Fence installation

New fencing installed properly: line set out, posts concreted to depth, timber pressure treated, and every bit of the old boundary taken away with us.

How the installation works

We start by agreeing the line and the height on site, with your neighbour's existing fence and any old post positions as reference points. Then the old boundary comes out, including buried concrete, because a new post set beside an old lump of concrete never sits straight.

Posts go in first and are set to a string line so the run is true. Panels, boards or rails follow once the posts are stable, then gravel boards and caps, then a full clear-up.

  • Set out and agree the boundary line
  • Remove the old fence, posts and buried concrete
  • Dig and concrete new posts to depth
  • Fit gravel boards, panels or feather edge boards
  • Fit post caps and any gate ironmongery
  • Clear the site and take all waste away

What affects the price

Length of run, fence height, post type, access, and how much old material has to come out. Removing deep concrete footings from an old fence is often the single biggest hidden cost, which is why we look before we price rather than quoting over the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Do you remove the old fence?
Yes, and it is itemised in the estimate. Old panels, posts and concrete all leave with us.
Can you install a fence in winter?
Yes. Post concrete cures in cold weather, it just needs longer. We avoid working in waterlogged ground because holes collapse.
