Security fencing

Security fencing should start with a question: what are you protecting, and from whom? Opportunists, vehicles and determined intruders all need different answers.

Layers that make a difference

Height, climbability, visibility and access control matter more than material. A 2.4m mesh fence with no footholds and a clear sightline outperforms a 2m palisade tucked behind overgrown planting.

Gates are almost always the weak point. Matching the gate specification to the fence, and specifying proper locking, is where most perimeters are won or lost.

Residential security

For homes, the priority is usually the side and rear access rather than the whole boundary. A well-built lockable side gate and a solid close board rear boundary deal with most realistic risk.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most secure type of fencing?
For most commercial sites, narrow-aperture rigid mesh with anti-tamper fixings and a matching gated entrance. Palisade is a stronger visual deterrent.
Can you add anti-climb measures to an existing fence?
Often yes — height extensions and toppers can be retrofitted where the existing posts are strong enough.
